“I enjoy working outdoors. I always hated being stuck inside a classroom... With a traineeship you get to have fun doing the work you love and still get a qualification.”

Shaun wanted to leave school after Year 10 and go full-time on the family farm but his parents wanted him to finish Year 12. The compromise came in a school based traineeship offered through the Schools of Isolated and Distance Education(SIDE). It meant Shaun could still get a qualification in agriculture while living and working on the family farm.
