“WorldSkills was probably the best experience of my apprenticeship. For starters you get to go over to another State and compete in a competition that’s based on your whole apprenticeship. It’s a good thing to put on your resume.”
Conan left school in Year 10 and started work as a tiler with a family friend. After realising tiling wasn’t a career he wanted to pursue, Conan made the switch and signed up for an apprenticeship in painting and decorating. Conan competed against Australia’s best at the national WorldSkills competition.
