With so many apprenticeships and traineeships, finding the right one can seem quite a challenge.
The first step is to do your research and decide what industry/trade you want to go in to. Follow these links for the full
list of apprenticeships /traineeships available in Western Australia.
The second step is to find an employer follow
this link to find a few tips to help you do this.
When you have found a position your employer will contact an Australian Apprenticeships Centre (T: 13 38 73) to organise
your training contract.
Pre-apprenticeship courses take about six to nine months and the skills you gain may shorten the term of a subsequent
apprenticeship. The courses often lead to offers of employment from employers who are increasingly working with State Training
Providers (formerly TAFEs) and other
registered training providers to find suitable apprentices/trainees.
People with industry experience can have their current skills formally recognised and then develop additional skills to complete their qualification, within a shorter timeframe than an existing apprentice.
People already employed by a business are able to enter into an apprenticeship/traineeship. The employer applies to
ApprentiCentre for approval.
You will find more information about existing worker traineeships in this fact
sheet.
