Training in schools

Introduction to training in schools

You can begin a training qualification in Years 11 and 12 at the same time as completing your Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) through one of three programs; school based apprenticeships and school based traineeship.

You generally attend three days at school, one day in a workplace and one day at a registered training organisation.  You can start your apprenticeship/traineeship on a part time basis at school and then continue on full time or part time after leaving school.

Ask a teacher at your school to put you in contact with your school's Vocational Education and Training coordinator who can help you select the best training option for you.

If you get a full time apprenticeship/traineeship you can apply to your school to leave before reaching the school leaving age.
