Higher level traineeships

Western Australian workers can now upgrade their skills and gain higher level qualifications through the Productivity Places Program funded by the State and Federal Governments.

Workers can improve their skills in more than 110 qualifications at Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level.

Before applying employers will need to consider:

  • that there is a relationship between the proposed trainee’s job and the selected higher level traineeship
  • the supervision arrangements for the trainee – all trainees need to have a supervisor who can be responsible for on the job training.

Interested employers can apply by contacting ApprentiCentre on 13 19 54 or emailing apprenticentre@det.wa.edu.au. An Apprenticeship Officer will contact employers within three days of the application to discuss their workers eligibility and answer any questions.

Employers will be notified of the outcome of their application in writing.

Employees who have worked for less than three months full-time or 12 months part-time are automatically eligible for places.

Registered training organisations interested in receiving funding to deliver the qualifications can contact the training markets team at the Department of Education and Training on 9264 4215 or by emailing training.markets@det.wa.edu.au.
