Workforce Development Plan

Western Australian businesses and community can now take part in shaping their future workforce thanks to the launch of a new WA workforce development plan: A skilled workforce for the future issues paper, to help drive the development and coordination of future skills and labour needs.

The Department of Training and Workforce Development, in addition to its vital training role, has a much broader responsibility, including a focus on workforce development.

Workforce development will build, attract and retain a skilled workforce to meet the economic needs of Western Australia.

Workforce development will occur at enterprise, industry and Government levels.

One of the first tasks for the new Department is to work with industry, community and Government to create a workforce development plan for the State. The plan will assist the Government and the Department to guide workforce development policy and training in line with the needs of the economy.

With your input, the plan will guide workforce development policy and training that truly reflects industry and community needs. To contribute, you can complete the feedback form on this site. You can use it to provide feedback on the plan, register your interest in attending a briefing session, or invite a Department representative to call you to discuss your views.
