Awards for trainers and organisations


WA Trainer of the Year

Sponsored by the Training Accreditation Council.

Recognising innovation and excellence demonstrated by individuals providing vocational education and training to students at a registered training organisation in Western Australia.

The WA Trainer of the Year will win a $7,000 study grant from Training Accreditation Council.

Eligibility
You must:

  • be a resident of Western Australia and currently employed by the nominator as a vocational education and training practitioner
  • address the selection criteria personally
  • be supported by a Western Australian registered training organisation (RTO)*.
*RTOs may support more than one trainer in this category.
Selection Criteria

The applicant must demonstrate excellence in the following areas:

  1. Introduction of new training methodology, practices or teaching methods (working with students). Describe the way in which you have been involved with and made a contribution to the development and introduction of innovative, new or different training practices.
     
  2. Contribution to the development of training programs (working in the vocational area)
    Provide at least one example of how you have contributed to the development of training programs currently being offered by the RTO.
     
  3. Contribution to organisational goals (working in the organisation)
    Provide at least one example of how you have contributed to the development of the organisational goals of the RTO.
     
  4. Commitment to personal/professional career development
    Describe the ways in which you have shown consistent commitment to your own professional development as a vocational education and training practitioner.
     
  5. Leadership
    Provide at least one example of how you have demonstrated leadership within the RTO.
     
  6. Teamwork
    Provide at least one example of how you have demonstrated your ability to be a constructive, contributing member of a group within the RTO.


Attachments you also need to supply

Attachment 1 — teaching and training achievements
List your professional achievements as a vocational education and training practitioner including:

  • teaching/training qualifications
  • special awards or professional achievements related to vocational education and training
  • affiliations and membership of vocational training/education associations.
  • Attachment 2 — personal interests
    List of your personal interests, hobbies and involvement with community organisations, sporting clubs, volunteer work, cultural activities, etc.

    Attachment 3 — relationship with students
    Provide contact details of two student referees whom you have trained within the past 12 months and who are prepared to be interviewed about the training and learning environment you created for them.
