Overseas students

Education and Training International is the Western Australian government organisation that provides a gateway for international students wishing to study at TAFE Colleges. Education and Training International assists international students through the process involved in successfully entering Australia to study at TAFE.

Studying at TAFE

Each year over 3,000 international students from over 30 countries around the world choose to study at TAFE Colleges in Western Australia. TAFE is the largest provider of vocational education and training in the state and enrols over 150,000 local students annually.

TAFE offers 'real world' training by highly experienced staff in modern facilities. The training provided combines quality learning with practical experience to ensure graduates obtain skills that are highly valued by employers.

More than 250 courses are available in virtually every area including: English and languages, accounting, communication, business, engineering, computing, science, art and design, media, health, horticulture and land management, hospitality, tourism, clothing, maritime, aeronautics and animal studies.

TAFE has two excellent English language centres which deliver fully-accredited courses that are regulated by the government to ensure high quality is maintained. All English courses are studied full-time (22 hours per week) and are available for various periods of study from four to 40 weeks.

Studying at Canning or Tuart Colleges

Tuart and Canning are government colleges that provide pre-university (foundation) studies for international students. Both colleges are located just 15 minutes from the Perth city centre - Tuart to the North and Canning to the South. Each College has approximately 1000 students with around 200 being international students.

Canning and Tuart Colleges have a unique relationship with Western Australia's four government universities. They are the only government Colleges that run the Western Australian Universities' Foundation Program (WAUFP) - which has been specially designed to prepare international students for university studies. Every student who successfully completes the WAUFP program is guaranteed a place in one of the four Western Australian public universities.
